The Executive MBA program requires that all of the following application materials be submitted before your application review and consideration for acceptance:
Complete all items on the application form.
You may upload a copy of your unofficial transcript to your application for admissions consideration. If admitted, you will need to mail an official transcript prior to the start of classes.
You must request an official transcript from the educational institution who conferred (granted) your degree (for graduate and undergraduate coursework) to be sent from the institution directly to the Graduate Programs Office in 203 Alfiero Center, Buffalo, NY 14260. For electronic transcripts, please email them to firstname.lastname@example.org. We need unofficial copies transcripts for all institutions you've attended for credits earned toward your conferred degree. You may upload copies of these transcripts to your application. The School of Management cannot request transcripts on your behalf.
Applicants with international transcripts
We will accept a transcript issued in English by the university. If the university does not provide the transcript in English, you must submit the transcript in your native language and an English translation. Applicants who have attended an Indian university must provide transcripts, mark sheets and proof of degree.
Official certified copies for all college transcripts or marksheets must be sent to the EMBA Office (150 Jacobs Management Center) both in the original language, and translated to English if necessary. They must arrive sealed in the original envelope. Applicants with international degrees must also send a copy of each of their diplomas to the EMBA Office.
Submit a current résumé showing relevant education and work experience. Include months and years of employment (i.e. MM/YY - MM/YY).
A letter of endorsement from your organization is a required part of your application. Your application cannot be decided until we receive this letter. The company support letter should be emailed to Rebecca Ott, Assistant Director of Recruitment, at email@example.com. The letter should be signed by your sponsoring management and come from his/her work email address. It must indicate organizational approval for the necessary time away from work to be in class. If financial support for the program has been granted, that amount should be stated within this letter as well. For independent consultants and professionals, a letter of self-sponsorship is required.
Two professional letters of recommendation are required as part of the application process. Once you submit your online application for review, the individuals listed as recommenders will automatically be sent an email asking them to submit an online letter of recommendation on your behalf.
Please answer the following essay questions in one document and upload it to your application.
A. What are your short-term (up to five years) and long-term (more than ten years) career objectives? List alternatives if you have them.
B. How do you feel you would benefit from attending the University at Buffalo Executive MBA program?
C. Describe the professional experience where you feel you have made the greatest positive impact and contribution.
To be considered complete, application packages require a nonrefundable application fee of $100. Payments may be made by e-check or credit card.
If you have applied with military or veteran status or are the spouse of, we will waive the application fee with proof of status. Contact the EMBA Office for more information.
You will be contacted for an interview after your application materials are received. An interview is required for admission and usually lasts approximately one hour.
International applicants must submit some of the following application pieces in addition to the standard application and materials. Please speak with a recruiter to determine which requirements apply to your situation.
All international applicants must demonstrate proficiency by submitting official test scores from one of the approved English language proficiency tests. Unofficial score reports may be uploaded as the admissions office has the ability to verify scores.
The following tests are accepted:
Score reports are valid two years from the test date. Plan accordingly to allow yourself enough time to prepare for the exam and for the score to be reported by the intended application deadline. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
English Language Proficiency Automatic Exemptions
The following categories of international applicants are automatically exempt from the English language proficiency requirement.
All international applicants not currently issued a U.S. visa must document their ability to meet all educational and personal expenses for the first year of intended study before this university can issue an I-20 or IAP-66. It is essential that you read the International Applicant Financial Form carefully. Complete and return the form along with official supporting documentation as outlined in the instructions. Supporting financial documentation should be a bank statement or a letter from a bank official stating the funds available (liquid assets) in U.S. dollars and must show the account holder's name. No certificate of eligibility will be issued without satisfactory financial documentation. Financial documentation is required for visa issuance only. Documentation may be submitted after acceptance but I-20 documentation cannot be issued without it.
All international applicants must upload a copy of their passport biographical page and a copy of their current U.S. visa (if applicable).
U.S. permanent residents are considered domestic applicants.
