Many of your questions about the UB PMBA track are answered in the FAQs below. If your concerns are not addressed here, contact us at mgt-pmba@buffalo.edu or 716-645-3200.
You will be expected to complete significant work outside the classroom on both individual and study-group assignments. You must maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 to remain in good standing and eligible for an MBA degree.
During the fall and spring semesters, core classes meet Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:10 p.m. once every three weeks for 15 weeks. Saturday classes meet from 9 to 11:40 a.m. and 12:30 to 3:10 p.m. Summer session runs two nights a week from 6:30 to 9:40 p.m. for six weeks late May to early July (session I) and late July to late August (session III). The winter session is three weeks during the month of January.
All PMBA program applicants are required to take the GMAT or the GRE exam as part of the application process, unless their background qualifies for a waiver. Test scores must be sent to the School of Management directly from the testing agency. The tests are offered year-round and can be taken at a time convenient for you. Keep in mind that appointments to take the GMAT or GRE may be more difficult to schedule as the application deadline approaches.
You will need at least one year of full-time work experience after completing your undergraduate degree. Preference for admission will be given to those with more work experience. If you are unsure if your work experience counts toward this requirement or have questions on timing the start of your MBA, please contact an admissions representative.
Yes, laptop computers will be used for in-person classes. You will also need internet connectivity to access course materials and other web-based requirements of the course between classes. See UB computing requirements.
The PMBA program is designed as a general MBA program, and most students choose to pursue knowledge in a variety of business disciplines rather than specializing in a single area. However, if you have flexibility in your work hours, you may substitute electives offered during the day for select electives offered in the evening as part of your program. Contact the PMBA office for questions on a specific area of concentration.
You are eligible for the PMBA program with an undergraduate degree in any discipline. We recommend you take at least one semester of college calculus before enrolling, but this is not required.
