Intercultural and Global Competency

With the Intercultural and Global Competency micro-credential, you will enhance your personal and professional development by participating in a global program experience as part of your college journey.

You will assess and apply core competencies gained in a global experience outside the United States, either virtually or in person. A combination of hands-on projects, reflection and cultural immersive/virtual experiences will prepare you to better articulate your global competencies and the benefits gained through your global experiences.

  • Requirements vary by program.
  • To be considered, you must submit a completed application, updated résumé, personal statement and unofficial transcripts
  • Interviews are conducted to identify students who are the right fit and appreciative of different cultures and perspectives, and engaged and open to different ways of learning and solving problems. This is an experiential program where you must be able to step outside your comfort zone and engage with peers from a different country and culture.
  • Overall GPA of 2.5 is required at the time of application. If your GPA currently falls below a 2.5, address this in your personal statement by indicating your plan to increase it prior to participating in the program.
  • Hybrid (some requirements may be fulfilled online)
  • Undergraduate/graduate credit-bearing
  • In addition to the micro-credential, you will receive a notation on your transcript
  • Completion of 3-credit-hour global experience course. Course number will vary depending on your level of study and geographic region of interest.
