Nearly 400 people attended the 62nd Annual School of Management Awards Banquet in November, honoring Buffalo-Niagara Executive of the Year James R. Kaskie, president and CEO of Kaleida Health and Great Lakes Health System of Western New York. In addition, achievement awards were presented to C. Angela Bontempo, CEL '97, retired president and CEO of Saint Vincent Health System, for industry leadership in health care; David A. Cervi, CEL '02, vice president of Personal Touch Food Service Inc., for service to the school; Leonard S. Gaby, '67, MBA '71, CEO of Gaby Consulting, for entrepreneurship; Toshio Matsutani, MBA '77, PhD '85, chair and CEO of Beniya Co. Ltd., for industry leadership in fashion; and Robert M. Zak, '80, MBA '80, president and CEO of Merchants Insurance Group, for service to the Western New York community.
Attendees at the annual alumni cruise in Buffalo were treated to a view of the Peace Bridge decked out in blue and white lights in honor of UB President Satish Tripathi's inauguration in September.
