UB students using newer Android devices may encounter a problem when trying to connect to the campus network using a Chrome browser.

The problem

When individuals try to onboard an Android device by typing connect.buffalo.edu into their Chrome browser’s address bar, Chrome on Android, by default, tries to connect using the secure HTTPS protocol (https://connect.buffalo.edu/). This URL does not work.

The fix

The correct URL for accessing the university’s ClearPass portal is http://connect.buffalo.edu/. This URL automatically directs Individuals to the ClearPass page. This may need to be done manually, as Chrome on Android tries to connect using the secure HTTPS protocol, which does not work.
