International applicants must have completed an academic program equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree prior to enrolling. Students may apply during the final year of such a degree program, but must furnish proof of graduation before the end of the first semester of enrollment.
All applicants who are not considered by UB policy to be native speakers of English must demonstrate proficiency by submitting valid English language proficiency test scores. Official score reports must be sent directly to UB from the testing agency. Copies of test score reports may be uploaded by the applicant for initial review. For more information about acceptable these exams, visit the Graduate School's General Admission Requirements webpage.
Unofficial transcripts are acceptable for initial admission review. Transcripts must be uploaded via your Application Status portal in PDF format. Be sure to include both sides of any double-sided pages of your transcripts.
International applicants must submit a PDF copy of their passport biographical page as part of their Application Status portal checklist requirements.
This documentation is not required for admissions consideration and may be submitted after you receive an admissions decision, however, it is recommended that you submit financial documents as soon as possible to avoid potential delays in the issuance of your I-20.
International applicants who plan to study at UB on an F1 student visa must document their ability to meet all estimated educational and personal expenses for the first year of study as part of the requirements for issuance of the I-20 Certificate of Visa Eligibility.It is essential that you read the international applicant financial form carefully and complete the correct form for your program and term of entry:
