Earn an Emerging Leader Certificate
As an incoming first-year undergraduate management major, you can apply to join a small cohort experience focused on self-leadership.
As an emerging leader, you will:
- Participate in a structured experience that helps you uncover the skills, habits and attitudes of self-leadership. With greater self-awareness during your first year, you will be able to apply your strengths and discover ways to grow through your challenges.
- Become a part of a small, meaningful peer group within the School of Management community. In addition, you will be introduced to manaement facutly, professional staff or alumni who share their insights, expertise or own journey as it related to leadership and professional development.
- Earn certificate and digital badge when you successfully complete the Emerging Leader experience. Your participation in this experience will help you add value to your future engagement in student organizations, internships and other experiences.
This program is typically offered each fall semester for a select number of first-year management students. Interested students must submit an application. Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance into the program.
If accepted into this experience, you commit to be an engaged participant in this learning experience.
- If selected, you are required to attend and participate in weekly 50-minute session held during the first seven weeks of the semester.
To apply, you must be a matriculated first-year undergraduate management major starting in fall 2024.
- First-year management majors who started at UB in fall 2024 are eligible. Transfer students in a management major who started at UB in fall 2024 will be considered, but acceptance may depend on space availability.
- Once selected you are expected to remain in one of the UB School of Management's majors for the fall and spring semester.
- Minimum UB GPA and Major GPA of 2.75 for spring applicants
