This fall, School of Management alumna Brittany Bartula returned to her alma mater as a clinical assistant professor of accounting and law.
Bartula, a CPA, brings several years of real-world experience to the classroom, where she teaches courses in financial accounting, auditing, accounting research, and financial reporting and analysis.
Most recently, Bartula served as manager of accounting policy and special projects at ACV, a high-growth tech company whose flagship product, ACV Auctions, provides a trusted digital marketplace for wholesale vehicle transactions.
Prior to that, Bartula was a senior associate in EY’s Technical Accounting Advisory Group, assisting external clients and internal teams with the complexities of interpreting Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Bartula holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from the School of Management.
In her last semester at UB, Bartula was awarded a prestigious Postgraduate Technical Assistantship at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), and spent the subsequent year at the FASB, which establishes financial accounting and reporting standards for public and private companies and nonprofits in the U.S. (To read more about her FASB appointment, check out our “Where are they now?” retrospective from Accounting Update’s summer 2021 issue.)
“It is truly special being able to return to my alma mater,” Bartula says. “I am looking forward to working with our undergraduate and graduate students over the coming years.”
