The School of Management's accounting clubs foster the professional development of students interested in accounting and related fields. These organizations promote the study and practice of accounting and provide opportunities for service and involvement among members and practicing professionals.
Beta Alpha Psi is an international scholastic and professional honors organization for students and professionals planning careers in accounting, finance and information systems. Its primary objective is to encourage and give recognition to scholastic and professional excellence in these fields. This includes promoting the study and practice of financial and information systems; providing opportunities for self-development, service and association among members and practicing professionals; and encouraging a sense of ethical, social and public responsibility.
The University at Buffalo Accounting Association (UBAA) provides a variety of experiences to UB accounting students. The organization is well known by the business community locally and nationally.
The UBAA holds activities and events that develop networking, communication and teamwork skills, and provide insight into career paths available in the accounting field. Through fundraising activities, technical presentations and community and social events, members gain the chance to improve those skills in enjoyable and creative ways.
The association is affiliated with the Institute of Management Accountants, which helps broaden student knowledge and provide members with personal and professional development opportunities through education, association with area business professionals and professional certification in internal auditing.
