As assistant dean and director of the UB School of Management’s Career Resource Center since 2008, Gwen Appelbaum, PMBA '01, manages strategic planning for graduate and undergraduate career development, internship programs, and recruitment by employer partners. She helps drive school-wide performance as part of leadership committees that address strategic priorities such as MBA admissions, the school’s rankings and reputation, and leadership development. In 2017, Appelbaum was honored with the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service.

Previously, Appelbaum worked at National Fuel Resources for 11 years; her roles included manager of New York sales and director of energy trading. Prior to that, she served as a financial analyst at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in New York City. She received an MBA from the UB School of Management and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Appelbaum currently serves on the board of trustees for Buffalo Collegiate Charter School as vice chair and previously served as chair of the board of directors for Leadership Buffalo.
