UB Learns, powered by Brightspace, is the official Learning Management System (LMS) for all students and instructors at the University at Buffalo.

Use the resources and links provided to help you prepare for the semester — from setting up your course site to engaging students with interactive content.

Making Your Course Active

Instructors must make a course active as well as set course start and end dates of availability for students to see the course on their dashboard. The course start and end dates control the students access to the course.

How to Make a Couse Active:

  1. Go to a course.
  2. On the navbar, click Instructor Only and select Course Admin.
  3. Click Course Offering Information.
  4. Find the Active section and click Course is active.
  5. Continue to scroll down the page and review Start and End Dates.
  6. Click Save.

Note: It can take up to five minutes before the activation process is complete and the course tile in the My Courses widget is updated.
