The Undergraduate Academic Programs Office provides academic advisement for admitted Accounting, Business Administration, and Information Technology and Management majors. We follow a Backpack-to-Briefcase advising model, meaning you will receive guidance throughout all four years from a primary role advisor. Our advisors are experienced professionals with master’s degrees.
As a current student, you may drop in for advisement during peak times such as add/drop (first week of the semester, plus one additional day) and during registration for the next semester. Drop‑in advising operates on a first‑come, first‑served basis. No appointment is needed.
Dates and hours for drop‑in advising are communicated to students each semester. To meet with an advisor, come to 204 Alfiero Center or call the office.
If you are a new first-year student: You will be partially enrolled by an advisor prior to your first term at UB and will need to complete your schedule by adding additional courses required by the university. If you are honors, EOP, or athlete, you will be enrolled by that advisor and the process may differ slightly.
If you are a new transfer student: You will enroll yourself in courses. Watch your UB email for details on class recommendations from an advisor after submitting the Advising and Orientation Form. All transfer students will be invited to make an appointment prior to your first term at UB.
