Dear alumni and friends:
As spring transitions to summer in Western New York, we are celebrating the conclusion of a highly unusual yet successful academic year. For the first time during this pandemic, we completed a full year of uninterrupted in-person learning—a great achievement for our students and faculty.
In another outstanding accomplishment, 100% of graduates with employment eligibility from our MS Accounting Class of 2022 accepted job offers before this year’s commencement ceremony. We are grateful to all of you who played important roles in hiring our graduates. As always, our graduates leave the UB School of Management well prepared for their careers, and we look forward to hearing their success stories for years to come.
Thanks to continuing support from many of you, we have also achieved an important milestone in supporting our students through scholarships. This year, we introduced four new fellowships—the Kathleen M. Hamm, BS ’85, Accounting Fellowship, the KPMG Accounting Excellence Fellowship, the Accounting Advisory Council Fellowship and the Victor and Joan Brown MS Accounting Fellowship—all of which were made possible through the generosity of our dedicated alumni and friends. These new fellowships add substantially to our scholarship offerings, enabling us to support additional students as they complete their graduate accounting degrees. We are fortunate to have a growing number of alumni and friends who give generously to the School of Management.
We are also grateful to several of our faculty colleagues who recently retired from long and distinguished careers in the UB School of Management. Ann Cohen, Cheryl Hall and Bill Kross retired last year, Kathy Nesper departed after the fall 2021 semester, and Alex Ampadu and Muriel Anderson will retire this summer. Their decades-long contributions to the learning and growth of our students are their greatest legacies. With deep appreciation and well wishes, we thank our faculty colleagues for their excellent service over many decades.
Thank you again for your generous support. Have a relaxing summer.
