A message from the chair

Inho Suk.

Dear alumni and friends,

This fall brought our highest enrollment in recent history, with 176 junior-year students joining our undergraduate accounting program — strengthening the talent pipeline available to recruiters. Our graduate program is also off to a strong start, enrolling 78 MS Accounting students. Most graduate students have already accepted job offers, reflecting our ongoing success in job placement.

With this success, our program is positioned for continued growth and impact as we deepen our alignment to the school’s strategic initiatives and mission.

There are many student accomplishments and program successes to highlight for this year. Here are a few to share:

On the CPA exam, UB accounting students continue to rank first or second among all large accounting programs with 100 or more candidates in New York State. This is a strong testament to the excellence and rigor of our curricular and instructional quality.

Beta Alpha Psi, the international organization for financial information students and professionals, was declared a Platinum Chapter for the second year in a row. Read more about their several additional distinctions this year. This external recognition ensures the continued competitiveness of our accounting program, reflects the dedication of our students, and underscores the outstanding leadership of Beta Alpha Psi faculty advisor Brittany Bartula.

Also, in September, more than 30 accounting employers and nearly 300 students convened at the Center for the Arts for a Meet the Professionals event hosted by the Career Resource Center, Beta Alpha Psi, UB Accounting Association and the Accounting and Law Department.

In closing, we are enormously grateful to our dedicated alumni and friends for supporting our students and programs. Your generosity has greatly helped our efforts to provide students with the best academic and professional preparations. With your continuing support, we have a strong foundation to strengthen our programs. Thank you, again, and happy holidays to you and your family.

Sincerely,

Inho Suk
