BUFFALO, N.Y. — Leadership development programs, global experiences and a student-run investment firm — these are a few of the innovative University at Buffalo School of Management initiatives that 100 alumni will consider before awarding $10,000 to the winning pitch.

The UB School of Management Alumni Association will sponsor “100 Alumni Who Care” from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 at the Foundry Suites, 1738 Elmwood Ave., Buffalo.

To register, an alumnus must contribute $100, which will be combined with donations from 99 other alumni for a total of $10,000 and given to one School of Management initiative at the event.

Registrants will vote on their favorite initiatives from a ballot of 15 proposals. Then, while attendees enjoy beer, wine and food stations, representatives for the three initiatives with the most votes will pitch live. Alumni in attendance will vote, and their top choice will be awarded the $10,000.

“Many alumni, especially young people, tell us they want to give back to their alma mater, but feel they can’t donate at a level that will make a significant difference,” says Cynthia Shore, BS ’81, MBA ’82, senior assistant dean and director of alumni engagement and external relations. “This is an opportunity for our graduates to come together and make a powerful impact on the school and our students in just one night.”
