Bloomberg Businessweek Ranks UB School of Management One of Nation’s Best Undergraduate Business Programs

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Bloomberg Businessweek has ranked the University at Buffalo School of Management as one of the nation’s “Best Undergraduate Business Programs of 2011.”

The UB School of Management was ranked No. 82, up 15 places from last year. Among public institutions, the school was ranked No. 37, among schools in the Northeast, No. 18 and in the recruiter component of the survey, No. 11.

In addition, the UB School of Management was the only school in Western New York to appear on the list and the 18th lowest-cost school in the ranking.

The ranking was culled from a list of nearly 580 schools accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, positioning the school in the top 15 percent of accredited undergraduate business programs.

Five sources contributed to the undergraduate ranking: a student survey (30 percent), a recruiter survey (20 percent), median starting salaries for graduates (10 percent), the number of graduates admitted to 35 top MBA programs (10 percent), and an academic quality measure (30 percent) that consists of SAT/ACT test scores for business majors, full-time faculty-student ratios in the business program, average class size in core business classes, the percentage of business majors with internships, and the number of hours students spend preparing for class each week. The 2011 survey supplies 50 percent of the final score; the two previous surveys supply 25 percent each.

The UB School of Management is recognized for its emphasis on real-world learning, community and economic impact, and the global perspective of its faculty, students and alumni.
