BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Seventeen graduates of the University at Buffalo School of Management received awards during the school’s commencement ceremonies on May 11.
The graduates and the awards they received are:
• Katherine E. Salisbury of North Tonawanda, the Delta Sigma Pi Scholarship Key, presented to the full-time undergraduate student who compiles the highest management grade point average of all eligible graduating students.
• Edward R. Buffington of Amherst, the Charles H. Diefendorf Award in Finance, presented to the student who has made the greatest contribution to the finance discipline.
• Rohini Gupta of Amherst, the Sidney N. Kahn Memorial Award for Excellence in Sales and Marketing, presented to the MBA student who has made the greatest contribution to the field of sales and marketing.
• Bethany N. Doohaluk of Fayetteville, the Eddy Lin Memorial Award, presented to a graduate student who is focusing on an accounting career with a midsize public accounting firm. The recipient must also exhibit scholastic excellence, a passion for learning, actively mentors others and have a caring and fun attitude.
• Rohini Gupta of Amherst, the Drs. John and Arlyn Myers Award, presented to the MBA student, who in the eyes of the Award Committee, has excelled in the field of Marketing in the MBA program.
• Matthew R. Epstein of Great Neck and Adrian J. Rangl of Queens Village received the Undergraduate Student Achievement Award, presented to the undergraduate student who, in the opinion of the faculty has demonstrated scholastic excellence and has also rendered outstanding extracurricular service to the school and the university
• Riana A. Hersch of Rochester, the Master of Science Student Achievement Award, presented to the MS student who, in the opinion of the faculty has demonstrated scholastic excellence and has also rendered outstanding extracurricular service to the school and the university.
• Nathanael D. Carbrey of Amherst, the MBA Student Achievement Award, presented to the MBA student who, in the opinion of the faculty has demonstrated scholastic excellence and has also rendered outstanding extracurricular service to the school and the university.
• Nan Xiao of Lockport, the PhD Student Achievement Award, presented to the PhD student who, in the opinion of the faculty, has demonstrated scholastic excellence and has also rendered outstanding extracurricular service to the school and the university.
• Emma A. Starkman of Purdys, the Adriana Ilyse Thaler Memorial Senior Award in Marketing, presented to the senior marketing student who best demonstrates academic excellence, leadership, marketing professionalism and personal motivation.
• Alexander L. Lent of Fairport and Jessica Leung of Hong Kong, the University at Buffalo Accounting Association Michael S. Dockery Memorial Senior Award, presented to the senior accounting students who have contributed in a superior way to the Institute of Management Accountants and the accounting profession, fellow students and to the School of Management.
• Harshit Purwar of Buffalo, the Dr. Marcel and Mrs. Kathryn Vinokur Award to Promote Global Understanding, presented to the graduating School of Management student born outside of North America who contributes to promoting global understanding among MBA students.
• Terri L. Zelasko of Orchard Park, the Wall Street Journal Award for Academic Excellence by an MBA Student, presented to the full-time MBA student who compiles the highest grade point average of all eligible graduating students.
• Jeremy D. Kephart of Sanborn and Anthony Nicodemi of Penfield, the William H. Wendel Memorial Award for Student Excellence in Human Resources Management, presented to the graduating student who has made the greatest contribution to the field of human resources management.
• Turner P. Gutmann of Buffalo, the Dr. Jerry and Mrs. Dina Wind Award to Promote International Understanding, presented to the student born in the United States of America who contributes to promoting international understanding among MBA students.
