BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Frank L. Ciminelli Family Career Resource Center and the Credit-Bearing Internship Program in the University at Buffalo School of Management honored business professionals, students and companies on April 25 at an awards reception at The Buffalo Club.
Brian McCallion ’01, vice president in the Controllers Department within the Finance Division at Goldman Sachs, was named the Career Resource Center (CRC) Alumnus of the Year, an honor given to an alumnus who has made a meaningful contribution to the career development of UB School of Management students as a participant in CRC programs or a champion for the school in the business community.
The Recruiter of the Year award went to Bill Deck, program director of finance transformation at IBM Corp., for making a significant impact in recruiting School of Management students.
M&T Bank was lauded as the Recruiting Organization of the Year. Kelly Greenauer, vice president of human resources, accepted the award for M&T.
The Credit-Bearing Internship Program (CBIP) named three Interns of the Year. The students and their internship placements were Caitlin Curry of Getzville, FBI; Stephen Davis of Tonawanda, M&T Bank; and Kathleen Stack of Buffalo, Women & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.
The CBIP also presented three Intern Supervisor of the Year awards to honor supervisors for their contributions to the professional development of the UB interns who worked for them. The honorees accepted interns during every semester last year and were nominated by their interns. The recipients were David Harper, president, Transportation and Consolidation Services at Sonwill Distribution Center; Sara Root, senior project manager, Eric Mower + Associates; and Kim Krug, owner, Monkey See, Monkey Do…Children’s Bookstore.
Delaware North Cos. was honored with the Outstanding Internship Organization award for providing opportunities last year for 10 interns to participate in robust projects across multiple areas of the company. Accepting the award was Thomas Barney, vice president of finance for parks and resorts.
The Nonprofit Internship Site of the Year was awarded to Horizon Health, a consistent internship partner for five years with strong positive reviews from students. Rachel Gibb, human resource generalist, accepted the award.
Finally, the New Internship Partner award went to The CementBloc Inc., a multichannel communications and marketing agency for health and wellness companies based in New York City.
