School of Management Student Honored for Dissertation Proposal

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- A doctoral student from the University at Buffalo School of Management received a $3,000 prize in a national competition for marketing dissertation proposals.

Satheeshkumar Seenivasan was one of two honorable mentions in the 2010 Alden G. Clayton Doctoral Dissertation Proposal Competition sponsored by the Marketing Science Institute (MSI).

Seenivasan’s dissertation proposal, “Creating and Seeking Value in Supermarkets: Three Essays,” was one of only three proposals honored out of a nationwide field of 76 entries.

Started in 1984, this annual competition is intended to encourage doctoral work on topics of importance to the marketing community.

In addition to the cash prize, Seenivasan is invited to attend MSI’s spring trustees meeting, where his work will be acknowledged along with top-prize winner Kelly B. Herd of the University of Colorado and fellow honorable mention winner Hyunwoo Lim of the University of Toronto.
