Eight School of Management projects featured at UB celebration of excellence

BUFFALO -- Eight scholarly projects completed by students in the University at Buffalo School of Management were showcased at the university-wide Celebration of Student Academic Excellence on Friday, April 12, in the UB Center for the Arts.

The ninth annual celebration focused on the scholarly, research and creative achievements of outstanding students.

“The fact that eight of the featured undergraduate projects were from the School of Management is a source of enormous pride and a testament to the strength of our undergraduate program,” said Arjang A. Assad, dean of the School of Management.

The undergraduates and their respective projects were:

  • Joseph Ramia of West Seneca—a study on increasing the work effort and performance of the psychologically entitled. Ramia’s work received the School of Management Outstanding Undergraduate Research Project Award
  • Twiesha Vachhrajani of Mumbai, India, Chenlu Yang of Qiagdao, China, and Elizabeth Dashnaw of Plattsburgh—a joint project proposing solutions to complex transportation issues at People Inc., a Western New York human services agency
  • Ziqian Wang of Shansci, China—presentation about internship experience at Ruth Diamond Market Research
  • Benjamin Fine of Yorktown Heights—presentation about internship experiences with two minor-league sports teams
  • Sooyeon Han of Seoul, South Korea—a study on understanding total return in the international equity market
  • Lauren Meiler of Buffalo—a study explaining the process flow at United Parcel Service
  • Kyoungah Lee of Pottang City, South Korea—a project to empower professional and business owner women to be more active in their financial planning
  • Olivia Ng of Malaysia—presentation about internship experience as a door-to-door salesman in South Carolina

The projects were first presented at the inaugural DEAL (Display of Efforts, Aptitudes and Leadership) Expo on March 23 for undergraduate students in the School of Management that showcased their best research and class projects, internship experiences and leadership initiatives.
