BUFFALO, N.Y. — Leaders from the business, nonprofit and academic worlds will come together on May 4 for a conference hosted by the University at Buffalo School of Management’s Center for Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness (CLOE).

The daylong event, “Give and Take,” will focus on the power of people-oriented leadership — how thinking of others can help you lead and succeed. Adam Grant, author of three best-selling books on subjects such as how helping others drives our success, being an original and innovative leader, and facing adversity and building resilience, will be the keynote speaker.

The conference will begin at 8 a.m. in the new home for UB’s Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at 955 Main St. in downtown Buffalo.

“Adam Grant is among the most compelling thinkers on leadership,” says Paul Tesluk, dean and professor, UB School of Management. “Backed by rigorous behavioral science, Grant will share powerful and actionable insights conference attendees can put to work in their organizations.”

Additional leadership presentations throughout the day will feature research from UB School of Management faculty and lessons from top-level industry experts.

The event builds upon the success of previous CLOE conferences, which have offered leaders the opportunity to learn about social innovation and entrepreneurship, emerging research and how to put that research into practice in their organizations, and new ways to build collaborations and relationships.

Tickets are $249 per person, with $199 early bird registration by April 10. For a full schedule and registration information, visit mgt.buffalo.edu/cloe2018.

Launched in fall 2013, CLOE strives to create more effective leaders and organizations. One of the center’s key objectives is to advance research and teaching in the area of leadership and its impact on organizational effectiveness. It also supports UB 2020’s goals of accelerating academic excellence, translating scholarship and developing leadership capabilities in UB students and business leaders.

The UB School of Management is recognized for its emphasis on real-world learning, community and economic impact, and the global perspective of its faculty, students and alumni. The school also has been ranked by Bloomberg Businessweek, Forbes and U.S. News & World Report for the quality of its programs and the return on investment it provides its graduates.
