BUFFALO, N.Y. — The University at Buffalo School of Management was ranked in its highest spot ever—No. 66—by U.S. News & World Report in its annual ranking of MBA programs.
The school is up four places from last year, and a total of 15 places over the past three years.
“Our focus on creating outstanding learning experiences and providing quality career development while recruiting high-caliber students and top faculty is really paying off,” said Paul Tesluk, dean of the UB School of Management. “It’s gratifying to see our success reflected in the upward trajectory of these rankings and in our global reputation.”
In the recruiter component of the ranking, the school fared exceptionally well, earning the No. 11 spot.
"This is a ringing endorsement from the corporate world and truly a testament to the dedication of our faculty and the preparedness of our graduates," Tesluk added.
The UB School of Management is the only business school in the Buffalo Niagara region to be included in the U.S. News rankings.
More than 475 schools were surveyed for the ranking, which focuses on three major areas: quality assessment, placement success and student selectivity.
The quality assessment is worth 40% of the survey and includes a recruiter assessment by the companies that hire the school’s graduates and a peer evaluation by other B-school deans and directors.
Placement success, worth 35% of the ranking, is based on the graduates’ mean starting salary and the employment rate at graduation and three months afterward.
The final 25% of the ranking is a measure of how selective schools are in their admission criteria, including GMAT and GRE scores, undergraduate GPA and acceptance rate.
The MBA ranking is part of U.S. News & World Report’s ranking of “America’s Best Graduate Schools.” A number of other graduate programs at the University at Buffalo were ranked as well.
