Fifteen management students receive WNY Prosperity Scholarships

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Fifteen School of Management students are among 26 University at Buffalo students to receive full scholarships for the 2013-14 school year thanks to a scholarship that aims to help the region retain its brightest graduates.

The School of Management recipients are Natasha Allard, MBA ’14, Brian Bowman, PharmD/MBA ’16, Ryan Carr, MBA ’14, Carson Ciggia ’14, Christopher Courtney, PhD ’15, Maya El Hawa ’14, Cathryn Hilliard, MBA ’14, David Huoh, PharmD/MBA ’16, Michael Kozlowski, JD/MBA ’14, Michelle Lund ’15, Christopher Maugans, JD/MBA ’14, Christopher O’Neill ’14, Daniel Ovadia ’14, Marita Paredez, MBA ’14, and Ellie Sanna ’14.

As in years past, School of Management students represented the largest contingent of Prosperity Scholarships, which are open to UB students enrolled in engineering, biomedical sciences, biotechnology and business administration.

The Western New York Prosperity Scholarship, funded by the Prentice Family Foundation, covers each recipient’s unmet educational expenses, including tuition, books, housing and transportation.

In addition, each scholar receives:

  • Financial support for a summer internship at a leading Western New York firm
  • A personal mentor from the business community to provide guidance on career matters
  • Membership to the Buffalo Niagara 360, a young professionals program that helps members develop leadership skills and build stronger networks
  • Membership to the UB Alumni Association upon graduation
  • Invitations to networking events and seminars where students meet local business leaders—including potential employers
