BUFFALO, N.Y. — Vikram M. Panjwani, a partner at PwC and expert on blockchain, will speak at the University at Buffalo at 5 p.m. on Sept. 25 at the Student Union Theater on UB’s North Campus.
Presented by the UB School of Management’s Helen and Oscar Sufrin Lectureship in Accounting, Panjwani will discuss the promise of blockchain—an unchangeable record of transactions stored across a vast network of public databases. Panjwani’s talk will delve into blockchain’s potential to rewire modern commerce, the hurdles it may face before becoming more widespread and how organizations are already using this innovative technology.
Panjwani brings more than 17 years of global experience to his role helping clients to address internal control, technology and operational risk-related issues. He has led the delivery of third-party assurance solutions, covering areas like card and merchant services, prime brokerage, trade processing, securities clearing and settlement, and investment advisory services. Panjwani has also led the development of a control framework for financial services clients during their Initial Public Offering and subsequent regulatory compliance efforts.
In addition to being a CPA in three states, Panjwani also is a Chartered Accountant (India), Certified Information Systems Auditor and Certified Information Systems Security Professional.
Free and open to the public, the lecture will include refreshments and be followed by Q&A. Advance registration is required by Sept. 17; visit bit.ly/sufrin19registration to reserve a seat. For more information, contact Janet Kiefer from the school’s Accounting and Law Department at 716-645-3290.
The Sufrin lecture series brings distinguished business professionals to the UB School of Management to speak about accounting issues. Funding is provided through the generous support of Leslie Sufrin, CPA, and Gerald Sufrin, MD, a longtime UB professor, in honor of their late parents.
