Seminar to explore basics of financial statements for lay audience

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Individuals interested in learning the basics of a company's financial statements and how to interpret them for everyday use can now do so, thanks to a Smart Business Practices seminar hosted by the University at Buffalo School of Management Alumni Association (SOMAA) from 8 to 11 a.m. on June 5 in 104 Alfiero Center on UB’s North Campus.

“Understanding Financial Statements: The Basics,” will be presented by Muriel T. Anderson, CPA, associate professor in the School of Management’s Accounting and Law Department.

The seminar is specifically targeted toward a nonfinancial audience and is relevant for managers, small business owners, nonprofit organizations and anyone else with an interest in understanding financials.

The cost of the seminar is $40 for SOMAA members, $45 for nonprofit representatives and $50 for others who are not members of SOMAA. Continental breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m.
