Statement from the dean on Buffalo mass shooting

Published May 16, 2022

Dear UB School of Management Community,

I know that we are all horrified and dismayed by the tragic, racially motivated shooting that took place at the Tops Market on Jefferson Avenue in Buffalo on Saturday. As President Tripathi stated in his message to the UB community, our thoughts and prayers are with those who died and were injured and their families.

As we process this trauma and grief, if you or someone you know is struggling, please know that help is available – support and resources are available through UB’s Counseling Services and UB’s Intercultural and Diversity Center provides a welcome and supportive environment for students.

Consistent with our values of advancing diversity, equity, inclusion and justice, this tragedy should motivate us to come together as a community to continue to collectively denounce and act against hate and violence in all its ugly and horrific forms, whether it be racial, ethnic, religious, sexual orientation or otherwise.

Sincerely,

Paul
