Talukdar Receives Faculty in Leadership Fellowship

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Debabrata (Debu) Talukdar, professor of marketing in the University at Buffalo School of Management, was selected as the university’s Faculty in Leadership fellow for 2011-12.

The Faculty in Leadership program offers interested faculty the opportunity to explore the possibility of augmenting research and scholarly activities with university administrative responsibilities.

“The fellowship provides UB faculty with a unique opportunity to learn about university administration and enables them to determine whether they have an interest in pursuing administrative duties in addition to their traditional faculty responsibilities,” says Harvey G. Stenger, interim provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at the University at Buffalo.

Throughout the course of the academic year, Talukdar will work with A. Scott Weber, vice provost and dean of undergraduate education.

Talukdar is an award-winning scholar who has worked extensively as a business strategy and public policy expert in both private and public sector multinational organizations. Last year, he received one of four research fellowships through the University at Buffalo Civic Engagement and Public Policy Strategic Initiative, which he used to conduct a systematic empirical study of slum dwellers in several cities across sub-Saharan Africa.
