BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Career Resource Center is an exclusive resource for nearly 4,000 students in the University at Buffalo School of Management. On May 5, the CRC hosted a celebration at The Mansion on Delaware Ave. to honor several recruiting and internship partners for their considerable impact on student success and career development.
Adrian Rangl, MS ’14, vice president, Goldman Sachs, was named CRC Alumnus of the Year for his tremendous dedication and support of students’ professional and career development, and for his deep involvement with the school. An alumnus with both a master’s in finance and a bachelor’s from the School of Management, Rangl was lauded for being a champion for UB within his firm, including hosting multiple information sessions for students to learn about analyst and internship opportunities that have resulted in the hiring of 25 UB School of Management students over the past three years.
Joe Savino, senior associate, US-East Campus Recruiting, EY, and Joe Maturando, director of campus recruiting, Northeast Region, EY, were named Recruiting Partners of the Year for their outstanding commitment to promoting a strong recruiting partnership with the school.
The Recruiting Organization of the Year award went to PepsiCo, a long-time recruiting partner. PepsiCo representatives have participated in semester-long classroom projects, served as speakers in classes, offered information sessions, conducted on-campus interviews, attended career events and much more.
On the internship side, the CRC honored an Intern and Supervisor of the Year. The award recognizes productive, meaningful collaborations between students and their mentors — and is chosen based on their nominations of one another. Interns often write about how they grew professionally by completing challenging assignments and hearing about their supervisor’s career path. Meanwhile, supervisors frequently share how impressed they were with their intern’s work, dedication and integrity.
This year’s Intern and Supervisor of the Year were: Sarvagya Tiwari, MS ’23, and Tom Rubino, chief risk and analytics officer, Paywallet. In a reflection of the evolving nature of remote work, this year’s team worked together virtually on a finance business intelligence project.
Moog Inc. was recognized as 2023’s Outstanding Internship Organization. The firm was recognized for the breadth and depth of the internships they provided across numerous functional areas, including operations and supply chain, accounting, finance, data analytics, marketing, product engineering and human resources. Michael Voigt, senior manager, electrical engineering, Moog Aircraft, accepted the award on behalf of the company.
“Our interns at Moog say their supervisors are flexible, open to ideas; outstanding coaches, leaders and trainers,” says Carrie Gardner, director of internships and experiential learning in the School of Management.
The Internship Spotlight Award celebrates a standout internship program for achievements that deserve special recognition. This year, the University at Buffalo’s Human Resources Department was recognized for its consistency in providing students with high quality internships with outstanding supervision. Brendan Tom, director of human resources, accepted the award and was thanked for both his individual contributions and for his department’s achievements.
And Friends for a Better Buffalo was honored with the New Internship Partner award for participating in the school’s Sophomore Sites internship program, which provides students with a foundational experience in a professional setting, while adding value to the organization. Co-founders Nina and Terrance Heard accepted the award.
