Prepare to lead in one of the world’s most dynamic and influential industries.

Learn from experienced developers and real estate professionals in the resurgent City of Buffalo, a vibrant laboratory for applied study in proximity to global financial and employment centers in New York, Boston and Toronto. The School of Architecture and Planning and the School of Management offer a collaborative three-year program leading to both the Master of Science in Real Estate Development (MSRED) and MBA degrees.

Be Career Ready

  • Collaborate with allied professionals in architecture, urban planning, management and law
  • Explore complex trends, including place-making and urban design, affordable housing and community development, suburban transformation, energy innovation, sustainable development and the effects of technological changes in the workplace
  • Dive deeper into such topics as historic preservation, inclusive design, property management and regional economic development
  • Build your professional network with industry executives through field visits, social events, guest speakers and paid and academic-credit internships
  • Immerse yourself in the diverse community of full-time MBAs

By enrolling in this three-year combined program, you can reduce by up to a year the time it would take to complete both programs separately.

Apply to Both Schools

Apply to both programs at the same time and indicate on each application that you intend to pursue the collaborative program. Administrators from both programs will coordinate their reviews of your applications and make every effort to respond to you at the same time regarding their decision. Each school will apply the same admissions requirements and standards that prevail for its other applicants.

Total Credit Requirements

Degree Program Credits
MS Real Estate Development (MSRED) 45
Master of Business Administration (MBA) 60
Total 105

The MBA is a 60-credit degree. Depending on the collaborative degree arrangement and curriculum requirements, approved coursework from the partner program may be applied toward MBA requirements, with a maximum of 12 credits eligible to count toward the MBA. As a result, students may complete as few as 48 MBA credits through the School of Management while earning the full 60-credit MBA degree.

Depending on the policies and curriculum requirements of the partner program, selected MBA coursework may also be eligible to satisfy degree requirements in the partner degree. This integrated approach reduces the total coursework and cost of earning both degrees while preserving the full academic strength of each program.
