Q. What materials should I bring on the day of my tax preparation?
A. Participants must bring the following:
Q. Am I eligible to use the free tax preparation service if I itemize deductions?
A. The free tax preparation service is only available to filers choosing to take the standard deduction rather than itemized deductions.
Q. Can tax returns be prepared for international students?
A. Due to the special processing required, only a limited number of preparers will be available to provide tax preparation for UB students who are nonresident aliens. In addition, UB international students on a nonimmigrant visa may be eligible to use Sprintax to file their taxes.
Q. Can tax filings be prepared for previous years?
A. To accommodate the high demand, volunteers will prepare tax filings for 2025 only.
Q. How do I contact the free tax preparation service?
A. Beginning Jan. 21, you can send additional questions by email to mgt-freetaxprep@buffalo.edu, and a student volunteer will reply within two business days. (Note: This student-run email will not be staffed until students return on Jan. 21.)
