As you may have heard, UB is in the process of moving UBmail to the cloud-hosted Exchange Online service, improving security and dependability.
If you are a member of one of these groups, you may receive a UBmail migration beginning summer 2021. If so, you will receive an email at your UBmail address confirming your migration date and next steps.
Some—but not all—members of the following groups will see their emails migrate from UB’s legacy, Exchange on-premises to Exchange Online beginning summer 2021:
Once your UBmail is migrated to Exchange Online, some parts of your experience will be different than before.
If you aren’t already, use Outlook on the Web, at ubmail.buffalo.edu, to access your UBmail inbox on desktop and laptop computers. Outlook on the Web is the standard way for these groups to use UBmail. Because most retirees, alumni and volunteers are not licensed for the complete Microsoft 365 suite of software, the Outlook app and other desktop email clients are not officially supported.
You will also need to remove any automatic forwarding rules, as forwarding to non-buffalo.edu addresses is no longer allowed with UBmail. Removing these forwarding rules ahead of your migration will help ensure your email is being properly delivered and filtered.
If you followed the steps above and are still having problems, contact the UBIT Help Center, online at buffalo.edu/ubit/help or by phone at 716-645-3542.
