In the Jacobs Management Center, you will find the offices of the dean, communications, alumni engagement and external relations, philanthropy, resource management and executive education.
The second and third floors of the Jacobs Management Center house the individual academic departments and their faculty.
The proximity of the departmental faculty to the professional staff, student services and classrooms provides students with convenient access to the faculty and staff who serve them.

Located in the lower level, the Leadership, Learning and Community Center is a space for undergraduate management students to meet with friends, study individually, and find tutoring and resources to help them reach their academic goals.
Opened in fall 2015, the 5,800-square-foot space includes the Frank and Marilyn Clement Undergraduate Community Hub, where students can relax, study and work on group projects using a 65-inch ClearTouch interactive computer. In addition, two recitation classrooms feature workstations with laptops and power hookups for each student, along with a flatscreen TV on which the instructor or students can broadcast information to the entire class simultaneously. A third classroom seats 40 students, with movable seating that can be arranged to best suit the class or event.
Fall 2006 marked the official opening of the John H. Shellum Room, named in honor of the school’s former assistant dean of alumni relations. The School of Management Alumni Association provided funding to renovate 106 Jacobs and name it for their friend and colleague. The room is the School of Management’s first digital access classroom and also serves as a multipurpose facility for meetings and other events.
The room is equipped to capture lectures on digital video and then make them available online for student viewing, a process also known as “course casting” or “podcasting.” Digital access represents a growing trend on many campuses, enabling students to attend certain classes remotely, allowing them greater flexibility in scheduling and unprecedented control over the pace of their own lectures. Both the digital access process and the classroom are also made available to area nonprofit organizations through a partnership between the School of Management and the United Way known as “Community Access.”
The Jacobs Management Center boasts three multitiered classrooms with state-of-the-art presentation technology and wireless access, with the Ernst and Young Connected Classroom as the first to be equipped with such technology. The classrooms house many of the School of Management courses and also serve as meeting rooms for student clubs and other activities. With the multitiered design and chairs instead of fixed seating, the rooms provide for superior visibility, class discussion and comfort.
The Graduate Study Center is a professional space featuring a stand-up height table with media scape, wireless technology, mobile whiteboards and comfortable seating, thanks to the generosity of three local companies: Interior Solutions, Steelcase and Hamburg Floor Covering, as well as numerous students who contributed to the Graduate Class Gift Fund. Full-time MBA and Master of Science students chose to help fund renovation of the space to promote collaboration, teamwork and a strong work ethic.
Computer and specialty labs in the Jacobs Management Center provide access to computers, printers, scanners, imaging and other technological resources for management students. The Sleiman Security Lab is used primarily by graduate students for hands-on coursework in management science and systems, and includes areas focused on networking, forensics and information assurance. The DiBerardino Accounting Resource Center for accounting majors provides space for students to study, work on group projects, hold meetings and conduct research. It is also used as a tutoring location by two student organizations, the UB Accounting Association and Beta Alpha Psi accounting fraternity. Other labs include the Organization and Human Resources Library and Research Room and the Marketing Department Research Room.
The Jacobs Management Center contains five seminar/conference rooms, which are accessible to faculty and staff for the purpose of research, instruction, executive relations and administrative functions.
