Central and South America

Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Latin America

Experience the history, culture and business of Costa Rica through the lens of social innovation and entrepreneurial leadership. Visit a variety of companies to learn about entrepreneurial initiatives, microfinance and sustainable business practices.

Past trips have included stops at major corporations, startups and coffee cooperatives, as well as a walking tour of historic San Jose and free time on the coast to see a famous Costa Rican sunset.

Next Program: Spring 2023

The South America program includes a credit-bearing, virtual learning experience focused on Costa Rica, as well as an optional in-person trip to Costa Rica.

The required virtual component features visits to socially minded organizations, cultural activities, networking with alumni and local leaders, and a team project.

“Completing a practicum project in Costa Rica has been life-changing. I was there to create a fundraising strategy for a nongovernmental organization and was able to help this organization provide aid while personally learning and growing.” — Jake Kinley, MBA ’19
