Online Programs Course Policies

April 2024

  • If we anticipate greater than 120 students in a semester in an online program, we create two sections of the online course. If fewer than 120 students are anticipated, we keep one section.
  • If an instructor has more than 80 students when teaching only one section of an online course, they receive $100 per student over 80 for that section, in addition to teaching credit for that section.
  • If an instructor has more than 160 total students combined across two sections of the same course that they are teaching simultaneously, they receive $100 per student over 160, and teaching credit for both of those sections.
  • Course enrollment compensation as outlined above will not be paid until final enrollment in the relevant classes is determined, which is after the drop/add period for that class.
  • A new online instructor shall review and sign a Memorandum of Understanding that outlines required dates for the course and any relevant course development credits.

Course Scheduling and Room Reservation Assistance

  • If you have a question about a classroom for a scheduled class or a final exam, contact Sara Wild at sarawild@buffalo.edu to discuss your needs. All course changes must be discussed and officially changed in the HUB student system.
  • If you need to book a room for a meeting or event, including the Alfiero Atrium,  submit this request via the central EMS Space System. After logging in, select “Book Now to Request Space in Alfiero/Jacobs.” This includes the Paula T. Agrusa Plaza, which is listed under “Non-Athletics Outside Spaces” in the Locations tab.
  • To book the recording studio in Jacobs 222, visit the central EMS Space System and select “Book Now to Request Jacobs 222” as that is a separate request area.

HUB Student System Assistance

  • The HUB is the main student system portal that contains student and faculty course information, including class details for past and upcoming semesters, as well as access to class rosters. Submission of grades is required through the HUB as well.  Access the HUB . Also, visit the HUB Faculty Center and log in to see helpful how-to guides for basic functions you will need as a faculty member.
  • If you cannot see something in your course, if your course is not showing in the HUB Faculty Center, or for any class-related questions, contact Sara Wild at sarawild@buffalo.edu. You must have a current faculty appointment and be listed as the teaching faculty for the course in order for courses to show in HUB.
